Dr. Shaimaa Abdelhakam is a foreign-trained Doctor of Dental Surgery with a diverse and interdisciplinary background in clinical dentistry, oral health education, and healthcare support services. Originally graduating with a DDS from Ajman University in the United Arab Emirates in 2006, Dr. Abdelhakam began her clinical journey through a dental residency at the Ain Shams University Health Network, where she gained hands-on experience in general, endodontic, and surgical procedures. Her early work focused on diagnostics, treatment planning, and collaborative patient care in a high-volume clinical environment.

After relocating to Canada, she broadened her qualifications by completing a Dental Assistant Diploma at the Career Development Institute (CDI) in Surrey, BC in 2015. During her practicum placements at Newton Crossing Dental and Tapestry Dental, she demonstrated proficiency in clinical chairside assisting, sterilization protocols, and patient coordination, while reinforcing her commitment to high safety and infection control standards.

In 2024, Dr. Abdelhakam earned her Bachelor of Arts in General Studies from Thompson Rivers University in British Columbia, with a strong focus on health and psychology. This interdisciplinary degree deepened her understanding of behavioral health, patient communication, and the broader social determinants that impact wellness. It also refined her critical thinking, research, and cross-cultural communication skills—qualities essential in both clinical and consulting contexts.

Currently, Dr. Abdelhakam serves as a General and Oral Health Consultant at APEXIA Consulting Corp. in Markham, Ontario. In this role, she provides on-demand consultation support to APEXIA’s training consultants during the development of programs that include oral or general health-related content. Drawing from her clinical expertise and academic background, she ensures the medical accuracy, accessibility, and relevance of materials across diverse training formats. Her contributions directly enhance the credibility and educational impact of APEXIA’s consulting and training projects.

Dr. Abdelhakam is known for her professionalism, empathy, and ability to connect with consultants, clients, and learners from diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about lifelong learning and remains committed to re-entering clinical practice in Canada by pursuing dental licensing pathways.
