Meet Kevin, a distinguished security consultant and use-of-force expert with nearly 40 years of experience in law enforcement, tactical training, and private sector operations. A former Sergeant with York Regional Police, Kevin was instrumental in designing Ontario’s Use of Force wheel and led the development of the force’s defensive tactics programs. He is also a black belt martial artist, inducted into the Eastern USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. At APEXIA, Kevin delivers tailored training in use-of-force protocols, risk management, leadership development, and conflict resolution, empowering organizations with practical skills and strategies for success in today’s dynamic landscape.

Meet Hatem, a security specialist with over 25 years of experience spanning operations, investigations, and close protection. Beginning his career in Egypt’s Ministry of Interior, he played a vital role with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, leading complex missions safeguarding VIPs and government officials. Widely recognized for his strategic expertise and leadership, he immigrated to Canada in 2015, providing expert security consulting and training to organizations nationwide. He now  is the founder & CEO of Control Risk and leverages his extensive background to deliver cutting-edge solutions, ensuring robust protection and operational excellence worldwide.

Meet Superintendent Keith Merith (Ret), a Senior Law Enforcement Consultant, award-winning author of A Darker Shade of Blue, and dynamic leader in modern policing. Through decades of service with the York Regional Police, Keith excelled in diverse command roles—from Court Services to Organized Crime and Intelligence—while also mastering use-of-force instruction and driving undercover innovations. Academically accomplished, he earned credentials from the University of Guelph Humber, the Rotman School of Management, and Humber Institute of Technology. Beyond policing, Keith co-founded the Citizenship Initiative Group (CIG) and served as president of the Association of Black Law Enforcers, continually championing community outreach and diversity.
